Compromise
Compromise is the expedient acceptance of standards that are lower than is desirable.
Expedient meaning convenient and practical although possibly improper or immoral.
When you compromise, in terms of your faith, which is built upon the word of God it means that you have given into or chosen the things of the world over that which is of God because anything that is not of God is of this world.
Compromise could be a result of:
1. Not knowing who you're living for.
2. Not knowing your worth.
3. Unwilligness or laziness.
And many other reasons but I want to focus on those 3 in this particular blog post.
"Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever."
1 John 2:15-17
Compromise can be a result of not knowing who/what you are living for. When you don't know who or what you are living for you live for anything and everything because you are easily influenced and your focus is so divided. There is no solid foundation in your life which is keeping you grounded therefore you are shaken by almost everything. Recently I came across a quote which said "Everyone is always saying that life is short, enjoy it. How about we start saying eternity is long, prepare for it". People forget that the journey doesn't end here and that's why we are so into things which are irrelevant to our salvation. The time we are spending here on earth is not even a measurable fraction to the amount of time that you will spend in either heaven or hell. Eternity is infinite. Our time here on earth is simply a moment as compared to eternity. Would you really rather enjoy a moment by doing things which gain you the world but lose your soul for all eternity?
You can only compromise something you know of, because compromising comes with making a decision and you can't make a decision over something you know nothing about. Once you know the word of God do your best to not let anything hinder you from sticking to it. Whether it's people, relationships or situations. If they/it is forcing you to compromise your relationship with God then it isn't worth it. We are on this earth to help each other, to care for and love one another. We can do this y'all if we stick together. If you can't pray with them then don't chill with them🙅🏾♀️ because what value is that person, relationship or situation adding to your life if it's not bearing the good fruits of the spirit.
As Christians we believe in God the Father, Jesus Christ as the Son of God, and the Holy Spirit. We believe in the death, resurrection and ascension of Christ. We believe in Christs second coming, the day of Judgement and the salvation of the faithful. We live according to the word of God which is the Bible knowing that it is not in vain. We live knowing that because Christ died for us we have been given a second chance at life. We live for God's glory and to preach the good news of Christ. That is what we live for as Christians.
According to the google definition that I got over there. When you compromise you are choosing something of lesser value and lower standard than is desirable. So compromise can be a result of not knowing your worth. The things of this world are not valuable enough for us. 1 Peter 2:9 speaks of how we are a ROYAL priesthood my friend👑 so why would you want something that doesn't even reach your level. Let's not settle for the things of this world because they aren't good enough for us. We are dope. In fact we are doper than dope. We were created in the image of God so we must be amazeballs 😂. Remember we are in this world but not of this world (John 17:14-15). The things of this world can't even be compared to that which the Lord has instore for us💃🏾 plans to give us HOPE and PROSPERITY. The Holy Spirit is within us so let us be that which is of the Holy Spirit.
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
Galatians 5:22-23
I know sometimes we feel as if we are not worthy. But God is saying to you that He sent his only son, to die for you. You are worth dying for. God doesn't care what you did or where you are coming from. He is just waiting for you to call on him, repent and allow him to work in you so that he can give you everything that he wants to give you.
When it comes to the Bible, I've noticed that sometimes as humans we can be selective or tend to be selective about the things we choose to obey. This is just food for thought nothing deep here, but like why then are you going to follow something if you aren't following it whole heartedly, and if not doing atleast trying to obey everything it says. You can't receive a complete reward without complete commitment. So yeah if we do things half half we will get half half results and not reach the full potential of the things that God has instore for us.
Sometimes when it comes to relationships with people who we know are toxic to our faith, because we are scared of losing them, we come up with excuses like "I'm trying to help them" or "I want to be there for them", but it seems like they are rubbing off more onto you than you are onto them🤔 so how will you be helping. Unless if God has told you to stress about a person and make them and their situation a priority in your life then you are wasting your time because you may not be the best fit for that persons situation. Especially if they are rubbing onto you more than you onto them because it shows you are not strong enough for a situation like that so you must 🏃🏾♀️🏃🏾♂️🚶🏾♀️🚶🏾♂️. Sometimes people put us in compromising situations because you haven't been clear about who you are and what you are about🤷🏾♀️ you still show signs of confusion. So they think you'll be okay with doing certain things that you know, in terms of your faith, would not be good for you. So we should be clear about who we are in Christ. Can I get an Amen
" So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin"
-James 4:17
26 Dear friends, if we deliberately continue sinning after we have received knowledge of the truth, there is no longer any sacrifice that will cover these sins.
-Hebrews 10:26
Compromise seems to also be a result of unwillingness and laziness. When you're just looking for the easier way out. You're not going to try to stay strong or to push an extra mile for what you know is right or what you know you want.
I'm not sure if this is a relevant example but in the book of Genesis chapter 29 we read the story of Jacob, Leah and Rachel. Just to summarize it all, Jacob loved Rachel, Leah's younger sister and he agreed with their father (Laban) that if he worked for him for 7 years he would marry Rachel. However, after these 7 years Jacob was deceived by Laban and he was given Leah instead of Rachel the one who he truly loved. Now some of you brothers 😂can't even work to get the girl you apparently love for even a month now imagine 7 years, but that's a story for another day.... moving on....
Though he was disheartened he was willing to work another 7 to get Rachel because he truly loved her. He could've just settled for Leah but he knew what he wanted. There wasn't really anything wrong with Leah but yeah the bible emphasizes on Rachel's beauty. Now, Some of youuuuu 😂just kidding I won't rant today.
When you really love something/someone and you truly treasure its/their existance in your life. You should be willing to go above and beyond. That's how we should handle our faith🙏🏾. We should be willing to go to extreme lengths for that which we believe in no matter the circumstance or result. God sees and He always comes through so after standing strong by His word He wouldn't then just do nothing for you, my guy get ready for the blessings 👑🥂🎉. For some, the moment it gets hard or the moment a situation seems unfair we give up. Nothing worth it comes easy and your reward is always there waiting for you in the end. I'm not saying go and pursue 2 women, please, I beg. We are part of a new covenant, let's stick to one person please when God says it's time yeah.
Just a few tips which will help you not to compromise:
1. Look at who you surround yourself with.
1 Corinthians 15:33
Do not be misled bad company corrupts good character.
2. Be careful of who you decide to take advice from and what you choose to listen to. The negativity that some people carry around is so demonic. They'll make you feel as if the way you are living your life is not the right way to the point where to actually start believing their lies and unproductive, life ruining advice.
3. Be open to correction.
Don't always think that people are out to get you. Even if they are, there's nothing wrong with taking a step back and doing a bit of self evaluation.
4. Everything you do must start and end with God.
Like I always say... GOD LOVES YOU ❤
No one will ever love you the way He does and He just wants to see you do your best. If only you knew how much God boasts with you my guy❤you make Him proud and He appreciates every bit of effort you put into getting closer to Him. He sees and He remembers. So don't give up. Keep doing your thing🌱
God bless✊🏽
This is good and those are true facts you put out there. I'm sure a lot of people will learn not to compromise from this message. Stay blessed girl
