Foolishness

Hey guys❤ I hope that you're all well and taking care. It's been a minute. I was just in the kitchen cooking dinner when the Holy Spirit reminded me of something I once said during a Bible Study session I was having with my friends. Immediately I started singing all of my favourite worship songs, mostly the Shona Christian hymns, and yeah your girl started cryingπŸ˜‚. It's very hard to explain why I even got that emotional but anything is possible with the Holy Spirit. I guess He was just reminding me how important the topic was and that I must really take it seriously.

Basically, when my friends and I have Bible Study together it's always over the phone. We usually have video calls and it has been very helpful in terms of us just helping each other grow spiritually and keeping each other accountable. We usually follow a certain book in the Bible and always end every session with one chapter from the book of Proverbs. However, as of late because things have slowly been going back to normal and people are getting busy again we have been sending each other notes.

The book of Proverbs really puts you in your place guys. Everything that you maybe wouldn't have thought is that deep is made deep in Proverbs. One thing that the book of Proverbs has really been teaching me on is "Foolishness". You will come across the words "foolish, folly, fool" quite a number of times in ProverbsπŸ˜‚.

Proverbs 18:13 To answer before listening-- that is folly and shame.

Proverbs 28:26 Those who trust in themselves are fools, but those who walk in wisdom are kept safe

Proverbs 29:11 Fools vent their anger, but the wise quietly hold it back.

Proverbs 29:20 There is more hope for a fool than for someone who speaks without thinking.

Proverbs 10:18-19 He that hideth hatred with lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, is a fool. In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise.

Proverbs 18:2-3 Fools have no interest in understanding; they only want to air their own opinions. Doing wrong leads to disgrace, and scandalous behavior brings contempt.

The verses above are just a few of the many verses in the book of Proverbs where a lot of foolishness is exposed. After coming across all this I then remembered that the same Bible also says "The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.” (Psalm 53:1, Psalm 14:1).
I then thought to myself as we were reading Proverbs, I don't remember the specific chapter or verse, but I remember saying to my friends "so guys, when you do this that means you are in the same WhatsApp group as a person who says that there is no God"...πŸ˜‚. One of my friends, Tino, was just like "mmmm, yeah that's deepπŸ˜‚". So it means that if you're lazy, proud, vent your anger (often while hiding behind "just ranting"), speak without thinking, utter slander, have no interest in understanding, trust in yourself and not in God etc. Then you are no better than an atheist. You are no better than someone who believes that there is no God. Both of you are fools.

Proverbs has really been helping me a lot. It's a lot to take in and you realise how much change needs to take place in your life as a Christian. I'd really encourage all of us to take time to read it. At your own pace. I encourage you to work on trusting God with all your heart (Proverbs 3:5-6). To work on allowing the Holy spirit to lead you and guide you so that you make better decisions. When reading it don't beat yourself up too hard either. The first step is to acknowledge then we start doing better. In our journey of faith we will continuously learn and grow and we are so blessed to have a God who corrects us in love. Be open to His correction and discipline.

“Listen to advice and accept correction, and in the end you will be wise. People can make all kinds of plans, but only the Lord's plan will happen.” (‭Proverbs 19:20-21)

We are so blessed to have been given His son Jesus who died for us so that we could have a relationship with God, with the Holy spirit who helps us each and everyday. We are so blessed to have people that God is continuously working in and through that can help us in our walk with Christ. There is so much help. Together we will grow.

Thank you so much for taking some time out to read this post.
God bless❤
