God honors the good things that you ask for
Happy new year everyone❤ I wish you all a joyful, peaceful, prosperous and abundant year. Thank you so much for all the support that you've given Enameled With Grace in the past year. I look forward to the new revelations that God has for us and I pray that he continues speaking to us in ways that we have never experienced beforeπ«.
Every once in a while my dad sits us down for a little lecture. He's not a person who comments on things but when he decides to have these little talks with us, you get humbledπ. So we spoke about what we spoke about and then he said that in closing he wanted to leave us with this, "God honors the good things that you ask for".
If you read my blog you'll know that I write about the talks that I have with my dad every now and then. He explained saying that there is no way on earth that the Lord would not give you something that you've asked for as long as it is good.
Psalms 84:11
For the Lord God is our sun and our shield.
He gives us grace and glory.
The Lord will withhold no good thing
from those who do what is right.
NLT Version
People often lie to themselves and to each other with the misconception that before getting the good that God wants to give you, you first have to suffer, hurt and struggle.
"You need to experience bad relationships so that you can appreciate a good one when it comes".
"You need experience with different people so that you know how to handle yourself when you finally settle".
"You need to explore other options before you take this job".
And it goes on and on.
However, there are times where God wants to demonstrate his power for his glory. Recently my sister Ano❤ (follow her @anojoy_music) preached at our end of year conference. The title of her sermon was "Chosen for the greater". She gave a very interesting point saying that "the reason why God wants you while you are imperfect is so that your testimony is strong enough to inspire and draw other people to the kingdom". God can't bless who you pretend to be. So he can't work in the life of a "perfect" person who wants to act like they have it all together because your testimony has to be relatable so that it speaks to someone. It is in your weakness where God's power is shown.
2 Corinthians 12:9
Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.
NLT Version
Now my dad was coming from the angle where people demote themselves. Those bumps and bruises that you are facing are not God testing you. Those are the results of the bad decisions that you would've made. My dad said in one of his recent sermons that "the distance between you and God's promises never changes. What changes are the circumstances".
It's taking longer than you expected to get what God promised you because there was a time when you decided to take matters into your own hands. You decided to listen to that friend who told you that you needed a bit more experience. You decided to listen to that aunt who told you that you are too uneducated to even be qualified for that job. You allowed the devils lies to creep into your head. But God does not promise you things that he won't equip you for. God qualifies the called. You don't need to go through so many people to get the good husband or wife that was promised to you by the word of God. Life comes with making a decision and when you make that decision be sure to tell God about it. If it is GOOD, in accordance with his will and his word he will surely do it for you.
"God I pray that I get into that school"
"God I pray for good friends"
"Good I pray for this job"
"God I pray for this and that for my family"

"God I know you have a good person for me in my future"
If all this is good for you, why would he not do it for you? If he has already promised all these good things to you why do you feel the need to mess around with such empty options? Rather prepare yourself for when those good things finally come. God is faithful to complete what he would've started.
Don't demote yourself or delay yourself from reaching your promise because you've shown God that:

Don't demote yourself or delay yourself from reaching your promise because you've shown God that:
1. You don't trust that he will do it so you have decided to take matters into your own hands and we all know how that will end.
2. You are impatient.
3. You are prideful.
