A period of waiting
Embrace don't reject
What you embrace is what becomes your reality. One of the hard lessons that I've had to learn this year. There were so many things that I wanted to happen this year which ended up not even being part of the agenda. When I finished high school I really thought I had it all figured out. Where I wanted to go, what I wanted to do, who I wanted to be as well as the time frames in which I wished to attain these "goals".
A lot of things didn't go my way and I had to give in to the fact that everything I wanted was for the wrong reasons and that's why most of my desires seemed so impossible to reach. I just wanted to stunt, prove a point and be independent. I wanted to be "free" because I chose to believe there was something far better out there. I thought I was ready and that people would have to let go of me eventually. But life did what it always does best. It humbled me.
Earlier on in the year I had a conversation with a girl named Rutendoπ«(follow her @rue_lee_97). She spoke about how she was grateful for the long time she had after high school to just chill before going to university. It gave her time to find herself and become more self aware, work on her relationship with God and come to a greater appreciation of everyone and everything she had in her life. She explained that sometimes it did get frustrating seeing other people going to university, it seemed as if they were having so much fun based on the things that they'd post on socials and it just felt like her stuff was taking forever to work out and just happen.
But the minute she chose to embrace that period of waiting, rather then allowing it to frustrate her she found herself being happier, more content, open to learning new things and reach new opportunities. This conversation happened about a month before she was now meant to go to university. So her point was that now that she was going to school as a person who knew herself, who had improved her relationship with God , friends and family. She would be going to school as someone who wouldn't allow the world to define her because she already knew who she was. She wouldn't live for just anything because she knew what she was living for. This didn't mean she was going to school as a "perfect" person, but as a complete person. A person who is completely aware of the work God wants to do in her and through her. Even when things get tough while she's away, she would have so much to fall back on. Even if she loses her way because it does happen in our journeys. She would be able to find her way back and get herself straight because she has laid the foundation.
Sometimes we're always in such a rush and it's hardly ever for the right reasons. We will be thinking that we're so behind when we're exactly where God wants us to be in that exact moment. Allow God to instil whatever it is that he is trying to instil in you. It will prepare you for what's coming. Our journey's are different and we need to understand that people peak at different times of their lives. You're never "too late" or "too early" and don't let people make you feel that way especially if you have faith and trust in God. He will do it.

Heart posture is so important. With everything you do you have to make sure that your heart is in the right place because you can fool everyone else but you won't be fooling God. Intention is the reason behind most of the things that God gives us and the things that he keeps away from us. So with everything that you want be sure that it's good for you because when you do better for yourself you also do better for those that are around you.
If you're also going through a period of waiting like myself. For whatever it may be that you are praying to God for. Here are a couple of things that I have been learning during my period of waiting which I hope will help with yours:
1. Know that you don't owe anyone an explanation about your life. When people only know the surface of your situation, they assume they already know everything. They come up with their own conclusions and make you feel like you are oblivious to a lot of things. That you are disorganized and don't know what you're doing and that whatever it is you're waiting for will never come to pass. You don't owe anyone an explanation about your life. You don't need to prove anything to anyone. Do you, let go and let God.
2. Don't feel the need to explain yourself. I even lied a couple of times just to get people off my back on certain issues when really I should've just said "it's none of your business".
There's no need to be rude about it, it's just important to make sure people know their place in your life. You may want to keep close friends and family updated but some people you haven't spoken to all year will hit you up asking "so what are you doing these days"π. They just pop in at such awkward times because they are so focused on what you're doing rather than just drinking their water and minding their own business.
2. Becareful who you discuss your plans with. Some people will destroy rather than help in growing your faith.
3. Understand that people "peak" at different times of their lives. You're never too "late" or too "early".
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
A Time for Everything
3 For everything there is a season,
a time for every activity under heaven.
2 A time to be born and a time to die.
A time to plant and a time to harvest.
3 A time to kill and a time to heal.
A time to tear down and a time to build up.
4 A time to cry and a time to laugh.
A time to grieve and a time to dance.
5 A time to scatter stones and a time to gather stones.
A time to embrace and a time to turn away.
6 A time to search and a time to quit searching.
A time to keep and a time to throw away.
7 A time to tear and a time to mend.
A time to be quiet and a time to speak.
8 A time to love and a time to hate.
A time for war and a time for peace.
4. Being unoccupied at times is good. It gives you time to focus on your internal growth. I was so used to being busy 24/7 in high school so the transition from always being busy to hardly having anything to do was so difficult which is why I wanted to just get my life going because I wasn't used to having nothing to do. The thing is I thought I had nothing to do but you soon realise there's so much you haven't done, so much that you don't know that you need to know and so much work and effort which needs to be put towards the internal person. Learn a new skill, find a new hobby, read your Bible more and spend time with those closest to you.
5. Understand that God is sovereign. We can't have a fixed idea of how he works. I learnt this from my pastor, Overseer Maxwell. What God did for A will not be what he does for B even if they are in similar or identical situations.
God works through everything and anything to create a perfect situation specifically for you, all in due season. If you allow him to.

Isaiah 40:31 KVJ
But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
I hope this post helped and that you enjoyed reading this. Thank you for taking time out to read this❣Be sure to hit me up @miss_toryyy on instagram if there are any waiting experiences you'd like to share with me. I'm still in my waiting phase so there's definitely still a lot more to learn but it makes us better as we go along.
God bless❣
'Til next time
